In ancient times, when the
Aryan tribes, from India to Europe, were
worshipping many gods, and nature’s
elements, and in an environment, where
countless diviners, wizards and fire
guardians would draw innocent people, like a
herd of sheep, towards sacrificing alters,
temples and fire temples, a great
magnanimous man rose, whose sagacious and
penetrating message of monotheism, justice,
and wisdom, and whose unique, didactic
proclamation of truth, broke through all
boundaries of time and space.
The religious hymns, by the
name of Gathas, which remain from very
ancient times, are a part of the message of
a great man by the name of Zarathushtra, who
founded a significant intellectual
revolution, which directly or indirectly
influenced many ideologies of later eras.
The above named book is written in five
chapters, namely:
1- The Aryans
2- Zarathushtra
3- The message of Zarathushtra
4- Changes in the Creed of Zarathushtra
5- Zarathushtra and Government, and is a
comprehensive reference in this field and
also one of the series of this author`s
books on religions.

History of Iran's
Constitutional Revolution
|
Author: Dr. Katouzian, Amir
Naser
Persian:Tarikhe Enghelabe
Mashrutiyate Iran
Published: 2000
ISBN: 964-325-053-9
Price: € 35
Page: 1130
The book,
written by a Social and Cultural thinker,
enjoys much more advantages than the similar
literature. With a view based on criticism,
the author analyzes the events and
characters involved,
criticizing even the society that he himself
is a member of.
His precise critiques, for
instance, of canonical judgments and the
courts’ contradictory verdicts and
governmental officials’ misuse of such
disturbances, are still interesting and
useful for those in the Ministry of Justice,
and are a justification of why the
revolutionary people began their demands
with the foundation of “Edalat-Khaneh”,
regarding it as a priority, even over
emancipation from dictatorship.
What is of great importance, as to
historilogy, is the presence and
participation of the author in most of the
events narrated in the book.
No need to
mention the difference between the knowledge
of one who has directly observed the
historical events, has talked to people
involved in them and has read the press of
the time on the one hand, and that of one
who intends to write a historical book
relying only on his/her inferences from
other historians’ writings. Undoubtedly the
probability of penetrating some mistakes or
at least personal assumptions in the work
of the latter is much more than that of the
former.
As regards
the methodology of research and compilation,
too, the book is interesting. In addition to
paying attention to social and psychological
points, the author has tried to conform his
claims with historical documents , avoiding
from conveying to his readers only what he
himself has inferred. The reflection of
Iran’s events in foreign newspapers is of
his concern as well , trying to judge their
narratives and to criticize them if
necessary.
Another unique characteristic of the book
is the abundance of elaboration of various
social classes of the time, from distinct
figures, courtiers and clergymen to ordinary
people and even mobs, giving a precise image
of people’s everyday life and the
relationships governing over them.
Such is a
treasury which is gratuitously extended to
the next generation, and whose similar cases
are rarely found.

After the
fall of the Sassanid Dynasty, the Iranian
people struggled for many centuries to
subvert the domination of the foreign
rulers. The Safavid Dynasty under King
Esmail the First, the leader of the Suffies,
was finally able to accomplish this goal and
to establish an independent government
throughout Iran.
The declaration of the Shiite faith by King
Esmail after his ascension to the throne as
the official religion of Iran, the
implications of that historical event in
relation to Iran`s Sunni neighbors and the
battles that ensued, particularly the battle
of Chaldoran on August 23, 1514 with the
Ottoman Empire has been elucidated in great
detail in this book.

The
Historical Roots of the Iran – Iraq Conflict
provides an in depth historical analysis of
the legal and political developments between
1514 and 1980. The historical analysis
begins with the invasion of Iran by the
Ottoman Empire on August 23, 1514 marking
the onset of four centuries of ensuing
conflict between the two countries until
October 29, 1914 when the Ottoman Empire
became involved in World War I. After the
defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the World
War I, and the ensuing dismemberment of the
vanquished regime, Britain established the
country known as Iraq under her mandate on
August 10, 1920.
Iran and Iraq`s attempt at resolving their
border disputes, especially the Arvand rood
resulted in two treaties: the first on July
4, 1937 and the second on March 6, 1975. The
March 6, 1975 treaty was based on an
internationally accepted principal governing
the division of border rivers. Iraq,
contrary to the United Nations charter and
established international law, revoked the
treaty of 1975 and declared war on Iran on
September 22, 1980.

This book addresses those who
love nature and are not willing
to say good bye to the ancient
Iranian forests of north, and
are determined to maintain them
through an all out national and
international effort.
The book describes 20 rare plant
types in northern forests, which
are on the verge of being
vanished. It also explains other
precious aspects of those
forests in providing security
belts for 109 cities and some
6600 villages, as well as their
invaluable protecting effects on
northern water and soil against
natural threats, and
safeguarding more then 80
protected regions there….
The main aim of this book is to
study destructive elements and
factors threatening Iranian
northern forests. According to
the author, those factors
proclaimed by officials to be
the main destructive ones, in
fact are not the key negative
factors. Instead, lacking a plan
to maintain the land together
with heavy industrial wood
cutting are proved to be most
detrimental to Iranian north
forests. The book concludes with
a comprehensive plan to protect
and maintain the forests.
Most of the pictures are taken
by the author and the size of
the book (25×25), illustrated by
diagrams, maps and pictures,
provide readers with an easy and
time saving means of being
informed of serious destructive
threats.
Earth watch association, a non
government organisation (NGO),
firmly believes that to protect
the remaining parts of Iranian
north forests, there is no
remedy other than declaring them
protected regions and banning
any wood cutting or changing
their application.
